“Here’s a quick and easy cracker recipe that is one of my pantry staples. You can also add your own twist with things like sesame seeds, paprika, or curry powder. Serve alongside your favorite cheese and dips, or just as a snack.”
Lavosh Crackers
by Chef Steven Paterson
Ingredients
- 30g butter
- 2/3 cup of water
- 2 ½ cups of plain flour
- 1 tsp castor sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg white
Method
Preheat your oven to 200°C and line a baking tray with non-stick baking paper. Melt the butter and allow to cool.
Combine the flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl and then add the melted butter and water.
Mix by hand until a dough is formed, then allow to rest for an hour or so. This will keep in the fridge for at least four days.
Once rested, cut into six pieces and roll each one out as thin as you can (you may have to cook in batches). Brush with a little egg white and sprinkle on some sesame, poppy, or pumpkin seeds.
Place onto your lined baking tray then bake for 10-12 minutes or until crispy. Allow to cool and enjoy!
