A young Sika stag is the latest recipient of a bright orange collar. The stag was caught recently by helicopter and replaces an animal shot earlier in the winter. This brings the number of stags wearing radio collars to 10, five mature stags and 5 young animals.
With two additional collars recently donated to the program we will soon be able to extend the study to 12 stags.
The latest tracking shows all 10 stags on Poronui enjoying the early spring grass!
