New Season, New Seasonal Produce for the Poronui Kitchen.

13 September 2019

Spring has arrived in New Zealand! Not only does this signify the beginning of the fishing season, but also welcomes the arrival of the huge array of spring vegetables New Zealand has to offer.

For a chef, this is an exciting time of year as seasonal produce plays a big part in inspiring us when we are creating our delicious, seasonal menus.

This year at Poronui our goal is to use as much local produce as possible; from our wonderful grass-fed beef to our creamy artisan-made local cheeses. We were fortunate enough to experience a mild winter this year and with the appearance of some early springtime sun, we have already been lucky enough to enjoy the first crop of asparagus and courgettes.

Each year we love changing our menus to ensure our returning guests are as excited about their culinary experience as they are about spending the day on the river and we want our new guests to experience the best cuisine New Zealand has to offer.

Did you know Poronui has its own little vegetable garden too? Located just outside the lodge we now grow an assortment of herbs and vegetables, including vine tomatoes, baby gem lettuce, green beans, and a variety of herbs. So, on your next visit be sure to visit our garden and assist the chef by selecting some of your favourite fresh vegetables for your evening meal.

At Poronui our culinary mission is to offer our guests menus inspired by the amazing quality of locally sourced, seasonal produce New Zealand has to offer. Come and experience it for yourself with one of our packages: https://www.poronui.com/packages/
