For those wanting real solitude, take one of our simple maps and perhaps a picnic lunch for the day. Alternatively, our free walking app makes a fine electronic companion guide, with live tracking to help you find your way across over 150km of tracks and trails. Once downloaded, it works offline, so you can wander as far as you like.
For a more immersive experience, our guided walks take you to the more remote corners of the property with a chance to view and photograph some of our indigenous flora and fauna. This is a unique opportunity to retrace the steps of early settlers, deer cullers, fishermen, hunters and pioneering farmers.
The 6,000 acres of native beech forest is a haven for endangered species such as native mistletoe and bush falcons.

For guests who want to explore independently, Poronui’s free walking app is your electronic companion guide to the property. Available as a webapp or mobile app, it covers over 150km of tracks and trails across the estate, from gentle riverside walks to hill-country routes deep into the native beech forest.
Live tracking helps you find your way at every turn, so you can set out with confidence, whether you’re following a well-worn path or venturing into quieter corners of the property. Once downloaded, the app works offline, meaning it stays with you even where cell coverage doesn’t, making it the ideal guide for a full day of walking, exploring, or simply wandering.
