Hunting at Poronui
We provide our guests with hunting opportunities on two properties: Poronui in the North Island and Glazebrook in the South Island. If you want more information about free range sika hunting in New Zealand, or trophy hunting for red stag, fallow buck, sambar, rusa, chamois, tahr or more, we have a separate website with trophy galleries and hunting-specific information, and we suggest you visit that site.

Horse Riding
At Poronui our experienced riding guides are available to take guests on more than 100 miles of private roads and trails through a huge variety of terrain – from flat alpine meadows covered with wild flowers to narrow tracks winding through steep and rugged pioneer country. We cater for both the novice and advanced riders or those who simply want to give it a go.

Maoritanga
Poronui also offers a unique Maori cultural experience on neighbouring Tuwharetoa tribal land. Kai Waho can be translated as 'outdoor cuisine' and can also describe a master, or teacher, of the ways of the wilderness. Combine these and you have an unparalleled food and wilderness experience with Tom Loughlin. As 'tangata whenua' (person of the land), Tom is not only passionate about his culture, but is also a professional chef and expert hunter/gatherer and incorporates shared knowledge and stories. The Kai Waho experience can be added to any Poronui visit.
