Poronui is looking for such a person to join their experienced guiding team for this coming season – November 2011 to April 2012.
The ideal candidate must:
Be responsible and safety conscious
Have a reasonable knowledge of New Zealand geology, flora, fauna, history, culture, art and current affairs
Enjoy good food and wine
Be interested in adventure tourism
Be fit
Have a reasonable level of horsemanship skills in order to school horses
Have the ability to make people feel relaxed and at the same time provide appropriate challenges
Enjoy putting together diverse programmes to meet the interests of guests
This could be a part-time or shared position. Horsemanship skills and willingness to work as a groom and wait-staff would help make it a full-time position.

Housekeepers
If you enjoy the hospitality business, keeping fit, with a great attention to detail then the housekeeping position at Poronui could be a great opportunity for you.
The ideal candidate must:
Have previous housekeeping experience
Be fit, with good stamina
Be efficient and meticulous
Be willing to follow systems
Be hard working
Be willing to work in a team and have good communication skills
Be willing to learn
This is a seasonal contract available from October 2011 to the end of April 2012. Full time and part time positions are available. Hours – 8am to 2.30pm.

Second Chef

The Second Chef position is a combination of two nights dinner shift, two days breakfast shift and 1 day prep shift.
As the Lodge is open plan, the successful applicant must present a professional appearance, enjoy meeting people, and have good communication skills.
We are looking for a Chef:
With a passion for 'real' food (country-style cuisine) and a high standard of presentation
With exceptional communication skills, a flexible personality and an ability to multitask
With a willingness to go the extra mile without having to be asked
Who enjoys working alone and with others
With a good understanding of working within a budget
The ideal candidate must:
Have experience
Enjoy country-style cooking and a high standard of presentation
Have an ability to think 'outside the square' and create interesting menus with available local fare
Be a good creative baker
Have a high standard of work ethic
Be efficient with good time management skills
Keep a tidy, clean kitchen
Enjoy working as part of a team
In short, if you can juggle short and long term planning, work within a budget, get along with all comers, have a love of cooking and a high standard of presentation then you may be very happy as part of the team at Poronui.
Some 'mileage on the clock' is certainly not a disadvantage. The ability to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse could well be an asset!
