Our Philosophy and Our People
Poronui has evolved from a rustic fishing camp into one of the world’s finest fishing, hunting and wilderness lodges. This is no accident, but the result of careful and loving stewardship by the staff at Poronui. We have a strong philosophy of conservation, of preserving the natural assets of the property. We have a strong customer service ethic, believing that while Poronui itself is spectacular, it is our people and the camaraderie of your fellow guests that will make the experience truly memorable.
We work with a number of partners to deliver high quality services designed exclusively to meet the needs of the discerning Poronui guest. We also have partners who are helping us to record the natural history and heritage of the property and manage it for future generations. More information about our partners can be found here.
Set in the middle of the North Island of New Zealand, only 40 minutes drive from Taupo, Poronui is close to civilisation but a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Getting here is a simple matter – arrive at Taupo airport and we will collect you, or drive on up yourself.
