Duncan Forsyth from Mt Edward Vineyard

Duncan Forsyth arrived in Central Otago in 1993. After working with many of the region's top estates, plus working in Oregon, Germany and California, Duncan put down roots in the late 1990's, planting the Morrison Vineyard on Wanaka Road near Cromwell. In late 2003 he teamed up with John Buchanan with the pair taking on Mount Edward in 2004.

When awarding Mount Edward Red Wine of the Year 2012, The Wandering Palate aka Curtis Marsh, described Mt Edward as "...recalcitrant, insubordinate, revolutionist, mischievous, ingenious, jocular and witty but in the Neo-Darwinism of the New Zealand wine industry, they are the dynamic – the avant-garde.

These Central Otago rebels with a cause are genuinely altruistic and beyond their bonhomie and flippant masquerade is a resolute and earnest determination to achieve distinctiveness".

Mt Edward are fully committed to an organic approach, growing grapes on several estate vineyards, across the best sub regions in Central Otago, that collectively produce wines of provenance and pleasure alike.

The winery and all estate vineyards are managed using certified organic practices and reflect a traditional and holistic wine growing ethos that Mt Edward believe is critical for wines of uniqueness and authenticity.

Everything Mt Edward do is based on the premise that great wine - wine that has personality and reflects its origins - is always grown in the vineyard.  The winemaking is traditional, using natural yeasts and minimal intervention, so wines reflect the vintage from which they came.
These weekends are always booked well in advance, so to make an inquiry;  please call Eve on +64 7 384 2080 or send us an email
