Fine Dining
Food is one of the highlights of a stay at Poronui. Our resident chef has honed his skills internationally and brings a touch of class to everything from breakfast to gourmet picnic lunches to pre-dinner canapés, dinner and dessert treats. All meals are prepared in the lodge kitchen, which is literally at the heart of the Lodge.
Guests gather round the wood paneled bar to share everything from freshly baked muffins and scones to tall tales and anecdotes. Dinner is at a shared table and there is always something to suit all appetites.
We also host a weekly outdoor barbeque where visitors can enjoy the culinary experience of game sourced directly from the property.
Our Wine Cellar
The Stables at Poronui boasts one of New Zealand’s finest modern underground cellars, featuring an extensive collection of award winning local and international wines. We store more than 10,000 bottles covering most recognized vintages, and we regularly host wine tastings - which are a highlight of any visit. Our proximity to the renowned, and consistently excellent, wine-producing region of Hawkes Bay, means that we complement all meals with some of New Zealand’s best new wines.
